Pique: Messi deserves the Ballon d'Or

Barcelona - Gerard Pique believes his teammate in Barcelona, Lionel Messi, as the favorite to win the Ballon d'Or this year. According to the Blaugrana defender is, Messi is still the best player in the world today.

In addition to Messi, other names also appear, among them Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Iker Casillas and Cristiano Ronaldo. Although Casillas was is intended to be a good candidate to receive the award, but Messi is still considered a favorite to win the prize of FIFA.

"It is very difficult if you have to guess who will receive the Golden Ball this year. But I think Messi is still the best player in the world today," said Pique, as reported by the Guardian, Friday (07/27/2012).

The Spanish international also revealed about the Catalan team next season target. He stressed that the priority of the current team is still pursuing a large number of titles and entertain the fans, although the team has changed coaches.

"The ultimate goal is to win Barcelona. We will continue to fight to win every game. We will try to play great every game that followed," he said.
