Nadal was absent from the London Olympics 2012

MADRID - Rafael Nadal's dream of maintaining many of the men's Olympic gold medalists in singles tennis disappeared. Nadal has decided to be absent from London in 2012 due to not being fit.

26-year-old Spaniard was gold medalist in men's singles and the Beijing Olympics in 2008. When Nadal beat Fernando Gonzalez of Chile in the final.

Unfortunately, knee injuries acquired during the surprise defeat of Rep. tennis player. Lukas Rosol Ceska in the second round at Wimbledon recently not to go.

The holder of 11 Grand Slam titles appealed this decision to resign as one of the saddest moments of his career. Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) announced Feliciano Lopez will replace Nadal in singles men.

"I am not in a state ready to compete. This is one of the saddest moments of my career," Nadal said, quoted by Reuters on Friday (07/20/2012).

"I think my colleagues should, I can not be selfish, and I should be concerned about keeping Spanish sports, including tennis Spain. My colleagues who are better prepared and ready to compete to play, "Nadal said.

"I waited until the last moment in my preparation, also in practice, but he still can not," Nadal regrets.
